Bacterial vaginosis

The vaginal environment has a pH between 3.8 and 4.5. In this interval, it exercises its best defensive function against several pathogenic species.

A variation of the vaginal pH is index of

bacterial vaginosis (abnormal bacterial colonization of the vaginal environment);

mixed bacterial infections;

sexually transmitted diseases;

premature breakdown of fetal membranes;

estrogenic insufficiency;

post-operative infections;

excessive hygiene;

treatment with antibiotics.
Our test aims to determine the pH of the vagina in a convenient and accurate way, thanks to
the appropriate reactive strip inserted in a convenient pen stick. The procedure is very
simple: first you need to wash your hands and then hold the stick with your fingers using
the special non-reactive area. Then, gently insert the stick into the vagina, making sure
that the reaction zone comes into contact for at least 10 seconds with the vaginal wall as
clearly shown in Figures 1 and 2.

After removing the stick, just compare the color developed with that of a graduated scale, supplied with the kit, as shown in figure 3 below.
